I recently completed an 8-week Spanish course with Jo Ashbury, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly! Each week focused on a different real-life theme — from dining in a restaurant, to visiting a pharmacy, or navigating various shopping experiences — making the content immediately useful and easy to apply.

Jo provided helpful word sheets, voice recordings for pronunciation, and optional homework to reinforce learning. The lessons were delivered live via Google Meet in a small group setting and were completely interactive. Jo has a real talent for making language learning engaging and fun — incorporating games, group activities, and friendly competitions that kept us motivated and involved.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to brush up on your Spanish skills, I would highly recommend Jo as a teacher. The course was well-structured, practical, and a genuinely enjoyable learning experience.

I had been wanting to learn a bit of Spanish since my son moved over a few years ago.

Night classes doing A level is way beyond my capabilities as I don’t consider myself scholarly, so when Jo, who I follow on You Tube, mentioned she was going to start giving Spanish lessons, in small groups, I contacted her to state my interest.  She had a call with me to explain how it worked before I committed to the class, and it sounded just what I was after.

Each week has been a different topic, including ‘In the Pharmacy’, ‘In the restaurant’, etc.

I am impressed by Jo’s ability to make learning both fun and educational, and how she got me to sing during lesson is a mystery, as it’s just not me, but it worked. Just hope no one spotted me singing ‘The days of the week’ whilst I was shopping in Sainsburys.
