Why Learning Spanish with a British Teacher with a House in Spain Changes Everything!
There are lots of ways to learn Spanish online—but very few of them bring you into real Spanish life with someone who knows exactly what you don’t know!
I’m a British Spanish teacher with over 20 years of classroom experience, now teaching online from my home in a small inland village in Spain. After years in schools, I made the decision to leave the traditional classroom behind and focus entirely on helping adults learn Spanish in a more personal, practical way.
So what makes learning Spanish with me different?
You will learn the Spanish people actually speak
Living here means I hear Spanish as it’s spoken every day—in shops, cafés, and conversations with neighbours. I bring that into my lessons, so you learn natural, current language, not lists of vocabulary.
I know what you don’t know
It’s great to have a native teacher once you have reached an advanced level of Spanish.
But when you’re just starting out, it’s really helpful to have a teacher who has grown up speaking English. Because I’ve had to learn Spanish from scratch, I know the way to make it easiest for you to learn.
Cultural understanding comes naturally
Language isn’t just vocabulary and grammar—it’s culture. Whether it’s understanding Spanish mealtimes, navigating local etiquette, or knowing what to say (and what not to say), I help you feel more confident in real situations.
Lessons are tailored to real goals
Most of my students are:
- Planning to move to Spain
- Visiting regularly and wanting to connect more deeply
- Some are even renovating a property – like I am!
Because I’m living that life too, I understand exactly what language you need—and what you don’t.
A more relaxed, human approach
After 20 years in the classroom, I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. My online lessons are:
- Friendly and supportive
- Focused on communication, not perfection
- Designed for real progress without pressure
Learn Spanish through real life in Spain
Alongside teaching, my husband and I are restoring our home here in Spain. This experience feeds directly into my lessons—whether it’s vocabulary for dealing with builders or simply sharing stories that bring the language to life.
If you’re looking for Spanish lessons expertly designed to help you settle in to Spain, I’d love to help.
